Sax.co.uk Recommends

Widely regarded as the least expensive "professional quality" tenor sax.

A perfect upgrade from your student sax or a great, versatile horn for a professional player - the YTS62 has long represented a benchmark for entry level pro horns.

What’s the difference between YAS62 04 and YAS 62-III ?

Absolutely none- The YAS 62 comes with two different codes on the box (not the instrument). Those that are imported into the USA are marked up as YAS62-III whilst those marked as YAS62 04 are for European import. There is no difference between the two other than the code on the box.

For an’ all rounder’ the Yamaha YTS62 is extremely hard to beat. Very much designed as a blank canvas, this horn is at home in pretty much any context from rock to classical and responds well right across the board. Anyone who’s finding themselves held back by their student instrument, or a more advanced player looking for a great sax on a budget should definitely consider a 62 as their next step forward.

The 62 is quite simply the best saxophone in its class. When the 62 series came on the scene, it set the bar extremely high for non-custom pro saxophones due to its even, smooth, polished tone, which gives skilled players tremendous control over their sound. bestsaxophonewebsiteever.com

    "The Amazing YTS-62III"
    Yamaha Reviewer
I LOVE this saxophone, in fact, i use it in my local orchestra when there is a tenor saxophone part. The saxophones action is amazing, has really comfortable ergonomics, and has fantastic intonation! This is a really, really, REALLY, good horn. I cannot get over just how amazing this sax is. I strongly recommend this saxophone, as your first (or in my case, only one, no pun intended) professional saxophone. As i have seen in other reviews my classic setup is a Selmer S80 C*, Vandoren optimum ligature, and Vandoren V12 or Rico reserve reeds. For jazz i use a otto link 8, Vandoren optimum ligature, and Vandoren green java reeds or rico select jazz filed reed. I hope this was helpful! Please buy this saxophone. You will enjoy it!

    "Not that classic anymore"
I played this re-incarnation of the classic YTS-62 several times vs. other Yamahas and Selmers. The latest version of the YTS-62 had the least punchy tone and the least projection of the saxes tested. To me Yamaha has lost again on the qualities of the original YTS-62. While it has really great ergonomics for small hands over all I would consider the 82z and the 875EX Yamahas real professional horns. It is still fun to play but Yamaha should be aware of the competition which is ample in the offerings of sax.co.uk.

This is one of those saxophones that give all this freedom in playing I do recommend this if you are on a budget. I replaced this saxophone with my off brand one. Just remember to not buy an off brand!
