Almost all student saxes are supplied with a very basic plastic mouthpiece, many of which are poor quality and have a small tip opening. This makes for an easy blow but restricts the tone & dynamics quite severely as you develop your embouchure. To continue progressing you need a wider tip opening and a Selmer SD20 is ideal as your first "really good mouthpiece," especially at this price! Ultimately you will find it easier to blow with improved tuning, better tone and dynamics. Choosing is easy as the SD20 is only made in the C* size which is by far the most hight recommended by teachers for advancing students.

A fine roundness for this model with an optimized balance between flexibility, power and control. Less centered than S80 and S90, it offers more sound options and expressiveness.

Designed in cooperation with the members of the DIASTEMA saxophone Quartet, it has the same inner design (round chamber), as the first Selmer Paris Soloist mouthpieces.

Opening: 1.94 mm (0.0763 inch)

Table length: 33 mm

For this mouthpiece, Selmer Paris recommends the use of a more flexible reed
