From the most highly recommended 280 student models to the world beating
Custom EX, Yamaha saxes have a well deserved reputation for reliability
and high quality.

"Since entering the saxophone market in the 1960s, Yamaha has strived
for excellence and value in all areas. Our philosophy of continuous
product improvement and a no-compromise approach to craftsmanship and
materials has resulted in a range of instruments that is second to none.

Working closely with some of the world's leading instrumentalists,
Yamaha has taken inspiration from the tonal characteristics of vintage
instruments and incorporated these into instruments which benefit from
the best that modern manufacturing techniques and technology can offer.

Embracing this approach has enabled Yamaha to create instruments of
outstanding personality but which free the saxophonist from the
constraints of compensating for an instrument's shortcomings in
intonation and tone.

Without these restrictions, a Yamaha player is able to concentrate on
nothing but the music".

    "The Outstanding YBS-62(E)!"
    Yamaha Reviewer
I absolutely LOVE this baritone saxophone from Yamaha! I use it in my local orchestra when they is a baritone saxophone part. I have played the Yamaha 62 range (accept soprano) and fallen in love with them. The YBS-62 is no exception. It feels wonderful, has wonderful action AND has perfect intonation! For a classic set up i use a Selmer S90 170, a Vandoren optimum ligature, Vandoren traditional reeds, jazz setup: Otto Link 8, Vandoren optimum ligature, Vandoren Red java or V16 reeds. I hope this review was helpful. I strongly recommend this purchase! You will absolutely love this baritone saxophone!

    "Superb YBS62 bari sax"
    Would-be Gerry Mulligan
My first baritone sax was a Taiwanese bargain, 800 including a flight case with wheels. Im only an amateur and it met my needs pretty well apart from the fact that I really struggled with intonation around upper A and B. Then I was lucky enough to find a second-hand Yamaha YBS-62. Well, despite my limitations as a player the intonation is spot-on and the tone just gorgeous. The ergonomics are excellent, although I found the meaty low-A thumb key got in the way at first. I generally use a Yanagisawa 5 rubber mouthpiece with Rovner lig, but for a really huge sound a Yanagisawa 7 metal piece transforms it into a veritable beast! My only criticism, and Yamaha, please take note: the Yamaha cases are ridiculously heavy even without the sax. Ive had to shell out extra for a flight case with wheels, very like the one my cheapy first bari came in.

    "This saxophone is superb"
    Jordan Li
I love this. Classical setup: Selmer S80 C** plus RG gold lacquered plus vandoren traditional Jazz setup: Otto Link 7 plus the ligature came with the pouthpiece plus vandoren green box jazz. This is the best bari sax I ever played. It has superb build quality, nice tone, very nice keywork, and high value compared to some other brands. The downside: coffin case, but can be solved by buying another case. If you are getting a bari, get this one.
