The Venova is a great starting point to the world of woodwind instruments. Extremely affordable, lightweight and durable, it allows beginners to learn the basics of reed-playing and fingering, and can act as the perfect springboard to the clarinet and saxophone.

Yamaha say: “To create the Venova, we developed innovative branched pipe technology which offers players a wide variety of ways to bring music into their life. The Venova can be taken anywhere. The pads are durable and can withstand a variety of conditions and the material used for the body of the instrument has been chosen to complement this. The result is an instrument that is fun to play anywhere and in wide variety of styles.

The Venova is an extremely unique instrument that is fun to play and offers a new way for people to bring music into their life. The innovative branched pipe technology marks a real step forward for wind instrument design and being a single reed instrument, it offers a wide range of expressive capabilities. The use of a simple recorder-like fingering system means that the Venova is easy to learn and to play.”

A rich, expressive tone and authentic blowing response

Like the saxophone, the Venova is a single-reed instrument that achieves various sound nuances according to the way you blow. The full two-octave range lets you enjoy playing a wide variety of tunes.

Reviews:

"The sound of the Venova is surprisingly full and saxophone-like. It also has a much bigger dynamic range than I was expecting, giving you the possibility to be very expressive. Now here comes the hard bit; the challenge is to learn all of the cross-fingerings such that you can play this instrument adeptly and fully chromatically. It’s entirely possible, and would suggest that most sax players will have it basically down after a few sessions. Neatly, Yamaha give you the option to use either a German or a baroque fingering system – this mainly affects whether you use a ‘forked’ F fingering or a regular index fingered F." - Jim Cheek (Sax.co.uk)
