01.02.12 ALTO SAX PLAYER WANTED FOR BIG BAND IN SW LONDON / SURREY
Our long-established band, the White House Big Band, is looking for an alto player to occupy its recently vacated second alto chair. We're looking for somebody who is at least a reasonable reader to take the chair over. The band has got well over a hundred charts in the pad, covering almost everything from Benny Goodman, Basie, Nestico, Ellington, Buddy Rich, Clarke-Boland et al. We typically field 5 saxes,
3/4 trumpets, 2/3 trombones, piano,guitar, bass and drums.The band rehearses in Hampton on Tuesday evenings, 7.30-9.30.

Ability to improvise is not required, but if you can then so much the better. This is a very good opportunity for an advancing player to get experience of playing in a big band.

03.01.12 SAX QUARTET PLAYERS WANTED IN SW LONDON/ SURREY

I'm hoping to get a sax quartet going and would love to hear from anyone interested in getting involved. I'm a grade 8+ tenor or bari player, keen on a wide repertoire - my current collection ranges from Bach to Stevie Wonder. It would be good to get started with some practice sessions supported with appropriate refreshments, and get some gigs lined up as soon as we had something respectable to show for our efforts!

Our band Rat Race are a hard working 9 piece ska band from Poole.
We are currently looking to recruit a new tenor or baritone player asap to the band to play alongside our alto sax, bass trombone and trumpet.

28.09.11 The Incredible Sax Band is a community saxophone choir based in Herne
Hill in SE London. We're looking for new baritone sax players to join us at our Monday
rehearsals - experience in sax groups, wind orchestra or big band is useful;
good sight reading ability is essential. Improvisation skills are a bonus, but
not so much as enthusiasm to have a go! New players should be at ABRSM Grade 8 standard.

Our repertoire is a mix of light 20's/30's popular music, more contemporary
jazz/latin/funk and a bit of classical. Some arrangements have opportunities
to improvise over backings. The group encourages members to compose or
arrange if they are so inclined. We're led by Howard Turner of Itchy Fingers
fame.

12.09.11 Lively Tenor Sax required for busy Dub/Ska/Punk band based in London. All we ask for is a confident improvisor with a strong stage presence and be up for gigs all over the country, promoting our first album in early 2012.  In return we will provide a fantastic working vibe and as much bass as you can handle.

17.08.11 If you're a good saxophone (tenor or alto) player and would like the chance to play a song or two in front of 30+ people at a premier nightspot in Sunderland, then this could be for you..

Plus I am recording the gig so will be able to offer you an edited show reel, with top audio quality, to add to your portfolios.

And of course there'll be the usual pint and hang-out at the end.

I hope this will find the right people, as it's my degree final performance, so players who are able to do stabs, lines and maybe improvise a bit (not

obligatory) would be amazing.

The main attraction will be 'Careless Whisper' by George Michael, with extra brass parts as I'm planning for 2 altos and a tenor.

Is a newly formed saxophone choir for young saxophonists aged from 11-18, who are looking for saxophone specific repertoire to play and perform, and the chance to meet new saxo-friends..!

Come and meet other young saxophonists from the area and work on music specifically arranged for sax choirs. There will be a number of concerts and performance opportunities during the year.

The fun filled sessions are led by local saxophonist and woodwind tutor, Lydia, who has been leading and involved in saxophone ensembles, as well as teaching, and playing professionally for over 10 years.

Sessions are held in East Harling Village hall, Norfolk, on Mondays, 5-6pm and will start on the 4^th July 2011

Gigging regularly in and around Taunton, Exeter, Plymouth, Bristol, Bournemouth so an ability to travel a must although we do have a band van which helps reduce costs!

Ideally, someone in their 20s or 30s but not essential, strong improvisation skills a must and an ability to play some background keys would be a bonus!

Set list is roughly 2/3 original 1/3 covers and targeting a dancing audience at clubs, bars & some private functions.
