Baritone sax: The Company was formed in 1979 by the enterprising and inquisitive flute repairer and maker, Trevor J. James. Since then it has grown in depth and strength through very close contact and interaction between teachers, players, shops and distributors around the world. This interaction between Trevor J. James & Co. and the musician can be described simply as the constant exchange of ideas both on the specific sound and the technical requirements of modern day players. As a result, product improvement strategies developed from this exchange have ensured that Trevor J. James saxophones are now regarded as one of the leading ranges in the world. Whilst the big music manufacturers churned out instruments by the thousands to saturate the markets, the very close relationship between Trevor J. James & Co. and the musician has enabled a more individual approach with structured market analysis undertaken within many of the world’s music instrument markets. The results of each stage were carefully discussed and conclusions drawn, leading to the instruments becoming, and remaining, successful because of their unique sound quality, ease of playability and attention to the manufacturing detail. By the late 1980’s demand had grown to the point where the Company’s original premises in London were simply no longer adequate. In 1988 Trevor J. James & Co. moved their headquarters to a converted Victorian school building in Maidstone, England, where they installed their workshops and offices. In 2004 the company relocated to an impressive new purpose built facility in Lenham, Kent.
Why Trevor J. James
& Co. Saxophones?
Launched to great acclaim in 1990 in front of an internationally invited
audience in Maidstone, the ‘Horn’ alto saxophone has won many awards and
friends both in the U.K and overseas. The success of the ‘Horn’ alto began the clamour for other versions. Nowadays the range includes tenors, sopranos and even a straight alto! An Interview with UK saxophonist & TJ Player Vaughan Hawthorne-Nelson

A Big thank you - TJJ Rev II Tenor & Audio Technica ATM350CW Mic
I would just like to say thank you for delivering my TJJ Rev II Tenor so quickly last September, I decided last minute to treat myself for my birthday, and low and behold it arrived the next day (on my Birthday) I could not have been happier J I hadn’t played for a while and when the tone of the Sax went muffled I called for advice, the chap I spoke to was most helpful, and as it turned out it was that my embouchure had strengthened quicker than I had anticipated and I needed a stronger reed. I then ordered an Audio Technica ATM350CW Mic with ATW701 UHF Diversity Wireless system last week, again, your service could not have been better. It arrived the next day and the guys I play with were astounded by the improvement in sound, previously I had been using a vocal mic pointed downwards. I will certainly be using and recommending (I have already) Sax.uk. Looking forward to doing business with you again, it’s not often you can say that these days. Thank you again, Simon (Wheezy) Lee

I
just wanted to say thanks for such a prompt delivery of the Trevor James
Classic horn I purchased from you this week. It arrived today and I'm
absolutely over the moon with it - it's fantastic. I was really impressed
with the speed of delivery of your service & so a big thank you for getting
it to me so quickly. Cheers Ian Davies
I started renting Trevor James Classic Sax-Pack from you in November 2005 which I later purchased. I had never played a musical instrument before and couldn't read music. A friend has helped me learn to not only play the Sax but also to read music and on July 7th at the age of 31 I sat and passed the ABRSM Grade 3 Alto Saxophone exam. If it hadn't been for the excellent service you provide with your Sax-Packs I probably would never have even tried to learn the Saxophone. Thank you for making it so easy for me to start as I have had many hours of enjoyment playing my Saxophone and the sense of achievement in passing my first ever music exam (with a Distinction - 137 out of 150). Just a quick
note to thank Phill, Chris and especially Jim for assisting me to choose my
first Tenor this week!
Jim was very patient as i tried out various makes and mouthpieces! I finally
settled on the TJ Horn, and i have to say i am very happy with it. The sound
is superb. I am glad i upgraded to the Yamaha mouthpiece. Once again thanks
for all your help and advice and I will definitely be popping in to see you
all again. Kind regard Joe Tiley-Walker

Just a quick message of thanks.. Received my
Trevor James Classic sax today. As I mentioned I have been playing the
clarinet for 2 years, from scratch at the age of 44 with no prior musical
background. You're advice was spot on. First blow I got a note, then got a
bit fed up because I couldn't blow the low notes so I left it a couple of
hours.. Then got going again like a speed train. Low notes came, high
notes sounded great. Within an hour I was playing most of my clarinet
music. The fingering is so much easier, and no over the break. The sax
looks and plays excellent. A big thanks to everyone at SAX.co.uk. Give me
150 years then look for my name in lights!!! Cheers Paul Barker, Grimsby
