This beautiful vintage Selmer has been the pride and joy of our very own Tristan for the past 6 years. He originally purchased it from a well know store in Bradford after having the opportunity to try it against no less than four Mk VI altos. Despite such tempting alternatives he fell in love with the tone and bought the Balanced Action.. Since then it has served him very well, taking him through study at the London College of Music, and for professional band use.
This is a rare model with nickel-plated key work. The body is un-lacquered which gives the sax a vintage look, plus an awesome sound! It has interesting engraving around the bell.
The
body itself is in excellent shape with no sign of past repair work. The
sax has the original neck, which is in excellent condition. It has been
recently serviced and reconditioned by respected Rupert Nobel (Soweto
Kinch’s repair guy).
Playing this horn is a lot of fun. The action is light and responsive with original pearls. The sound is warm, rich and centred, yet bright when pushed. The response is extremely instant, with a superb full sub-tone; even the altissimo range sings nicely. It comes with the original case and S80 C* mouthpiece and Rovner ligature. This is a real professional sax with its own individual character and tone.
