A perfect replacement for the legendary Selmer Mark VI.

Inspired by arguably the greatest saxophone of all time, the Selmer Reference 54 is an amalgamation of vintage sound and aesthetics and modern day reliability, bringing players closer to the famous saxophonists of yesteryear.

Description

The Reference Series is Selmer’s nod towards their hugely popular saxophones of the past, encapsulating the spirit of these fantastic instruments into a newly refined design.

In the Reference 54, Selmer took inspiration from their hugely popular Mark VI - a strong centred sound with plenty of projection, whilst redesigning the neck, bore size and ergonomics. The result is an instantly recognisable sound in a sax that is a joy to play.

Compared to many vintage instruments, the key work on the Reference 54 is smooth and easy to play with a modern layout that improves tuning stability and makes side and palm keys a lot more accessible.

Reviews

There is something about this sax that I can’t explain. Call it what you want, shazam, magic, the X-factor, this sax certainly has it. You can see, feel, hear & sense the history and pedigree coming. If you're having a love affair with an old Mark VI but are fed up with niggling intonation & reliability problems this is the answer. This horn builds on the legendary legacy to meet the demands of modern players, it will surely become a history maker. All I have to say is: I've now bought one! tristan@sax.co.uk
