Looking more like artistic jewelry then a woodwind accessory, this new ligature utilizes Rovner's exclusive Mass Loaded TM technology featuring weighted elements which tune the ligature's resonance band below the pass band of the instrument.

No other ligature has a big, warm, and responsive tone with such a phenomenal degree of control. Played softly (pianissimo) or loudly (double fortissimo), this ligature yields a tremendous evenness of scale in the most effortless manner. Capable of converting a thin, bodiless sound into something with substance and warmth, this ligature will amaze with it’s performance. It will bolster and solidify the lower register of both clarinets and saxophones; and enhance facility and response on the very bottom notes of Saxophones.

•Pure, dark, tone...ringing and bell-like

•Effortlessly played, with an incredible evenness of scale, smoothing out the difficult transitions between registers

•Superior control, for a secure, centered tone and flawless intonation

•Bolsters and solidifies the lower register for both clarinets and saxophones.

•Enhanced facility and response

•Superior reed-gripping capabilities, especially advantageous for synthetic reeds

•Durably constructed of highly-tempered, impeccably-polished, space-age metal alloy, the Platinum is as beautiful as a piece of fine jewelry

•Includes a Rovner cap

•Made in the USA!

"Attractive but fiddly to install"
This ligature has a bright silver appearance nicely offset by the brass securing screw. Helps produce a more resonant sound compared to a fabric reed. It is however awkward and slippery to install, especially with a synthetic reed. The smooth, shiny metal of the ligature cannot always get a grip on the slippery surface of the synthetic reed. Not a problem if you play cane reeds but if you use a synthetic reed, keep a fabric or other ligature spare for those odd days when the ligature keeps slipping and no amount of cussing or cajoling will get it to stay in place.
