P.Mauriat PMSA-300SLG Solid Sterling Silver,
18k Gold Plated Alto Sax
"Solid silver & gold plated saxes are well known to have outstanding resonance and by combining the two Mauriat have produced an exceptional, unique instrument. It does not get much more exotic than this!"
The body, neck, bell & bow of these horns are exquisitely engraved, even down to detailed engraving on the keys & inside the bell. The aesthetic beauty of these horns is only the beginning. The response, sound, and intonation will satisfy the most demanding players. Like all P.Mauriat saxophones, the 300SLG has characteristics of the great vintage horns combined with modern technology. Supplied with hard case, strap & basic mouthpiece.
PMSA-300SLG - First Impressions by Jim Cheek In comparison to it’s peers, it’s not quite as bright as the Yanagisawa and not quite as dark as the Selmer. Overall it retains that Mauriat focus of sound and there is a certain silky brightness, which is wrapped, in a warm glow!! I’m sure the gold plating must factor into this. Due to the immediate response of tone and incredible power on hand the altissimo felt supremely accessible. The sound has a different nature from that of the 67R, the System 76 and the Swing 55 - by opting for solid silver you naturally find more richness in tone and the ability to really push the sound to extremes of dynamics. The PMSA-300SLG is exceptional and worthy of comparison with the world’s most exotic ‘precious metal’ horns.” –Jim@sax.co.ukP.Mauriat Saxophones Prices & Ordering
