Jazz Saxophone Etudes, Volume 3 features twelve melodic etudes for the advancing jazz saxophonist. These etudes focus primarily on medium tempos and demonstrate a melodic approach to soloing with authentic jazz vocabulary. The etudes are catchy, fun to play, and written idiomatically for the saxophone.

Like all of Greg Fishman's books, all saxophonists (soprano/alto/tenor/bari) read the same written part, ensuring that the pieces lay perfectly on the horn, while the rhythm section transposes the accompaniment to accommodate the saxophonist's range.

This book is the perfect follow-up for students who have completed Fishman's Jazz Phrasing for Beginners. It's also a great primer for Fishman's more advanced books, Jazz Saxophone Etudes, Volumes 1 & 2.

Big, dark sound but with plenty of volume and projection. A great playing piece favoring the classic post-bop sound.

The FLZ Tenor piece is a large chamber piece in the style of the great Florida made pieces in the 1950's and 60's. The moderately large chamber and medium baffle give this piece great volume and projection while retaining a big deep solid sound. The sound of this piece is closest to a later Slant sig, but a bit wider and with more volume when puhsed. The articulation and respons is easy and fast as with all of my pieces. Made from Zinner Ebonite.
