2007/8: FLAMINGO/AFRICA
Collector's edition / Reference Alto & Tenor saxophones

In 2005 Selmer (Paris) announced the "Tribute to Bird" limited production of collectors edition Reference saxophones, in celebration of the legendary Charlie Parker.

Each year, for 5 years, a limited edition Reference sax will be produced.  Each will feature an original engraved design, specific to a different continent.

The third and latest is the Flamingo Africa model. Two alto versions are available - the Limited Edition and ultra exclusive Collectors model (pictured here). Both feature the gorgeous rich dark lacquer previously only available on the Collectors models. Then there's the engraving which is beautifully detailed. OK, it's purely cosmetic but why shouldn't something that sounds so wonderful look great too.

The Flamingo Collectors model is supplied in a specially designed shaped case and has extra fine hand engraving on the bell, body and neck. Only around 200 will be made for the world market during 2007/8.

For the purists out there this is the first Selmer sax for several decades with NO TOP F# KEY!
