"Good for a student (whos not clumsy)"

The first ever saxophone I bought was this one (after borrowing saxophones for several years) and I got it second hand.Overall I do believe this is a good instrument but you will definitely have to upgrade it if you want to carry on to a high standard as it is only a student model. The instrument gives quite an airy sound so you might want to consider getting a new mouthpiece to reduce this (a Yamaha mouthpiece will be fine). Also the case is not very protective as I have managed to wreck my saxophone several times because of the bashes it has had whilst still being in its case. However this saxophone is quite lovely and I havr enjoyed playing it whilst Ive had it. When played in a band/orchestra, this is a good instrument because you can blend well with others as it doesnt produce a loud harsh sound (with the exception of the extreme notes, low and high). The tone is also quite beautifully warm and you can easily glide your fingers along the keys smoothly. This will be a great instrument to start on and in some aspect is also good because it will challenge the student to work on their own playing techniques yo improve the instrument. When playing it, work on your breathing to perfect the extreme high and low notes. Also, look after the sax when it is in its case, or consider buying yourself a more protective case (BAM cases are good as it gives this sax and snug and protective fit).
