Bob Mintzer Clinic

In Association with Eastman Saxophones

Monday 20 November @ London - £FREE (£5 Deposit)

Doors 6.45pm - 7.00pm start

Join us for an audience with Bob Mintzer, arguably one of the world’s leading tenor saxophonists. Topics to be covered will include: various components of developing an improvisational vocabulary through the observation of the great improvisers, how to extract useful information from said greats, and through a theoretical grasp of what they are doing, organize this information into musical "words" that can form musical sentences. Bob will also talk about composition as a vehicle for presenting a musical conception as a player, and what one does to sustain a career in music. Bob will perform solo and demonstrate his signature Eastman tenor sax during the clinic.

Bob Mintzer is long-standing member of the Yellowjackets, leads a Grammy winning big band, travels with his own quartet, and plays with numerous bands globally. As an instrumentalist Bob has worked with Art Blakey, Jaco Pastorius, Randy Brecker, Gil Evans, and The New York Philharmonic, to name a few. He has done session work for James Taylor, Steve Winwood, Queen, Donald Fagan, Milton Nascimento, and countless others. Based in Los Angeles, Bob continues to conduct clinics and workshops worldwide. He has also written nearly twenty books which are an important part of the curriculum of Jazz education worldwide.
