Selmer (Paris) Series III Alto Sax in Clear Lacquer
The SERIES III Alto saxophone goes on writing the story of the Selmer Sound : free and centered, the instrument offers excellent playability. It responds to the slightest breath or tongue modulation so that you can really express your personality. Some new features such as the double C# mechanism help create stable overall tuning and a well-balanced high register.

The Series 3 alto is a fantastic instrument. It is so easy to play and really sings!! You can just relax into this instrument and like a good sports car almost drives itself!!! All the keys are in the right place and it sits very comfortably in the hands. Like the Series 2 it is a solid instrument and projection is wonderful. If you want a sax at this price then the Series 3 is the one!. 'Henri Selmer Paris made in France' logo on the bell but no fancy hand engraving.

Supplied by: Selmer - generally regarded as the home of the sax as they bought the orginal factory from Adolphe Sax. All saxes are still handmade in their Paris factory.

Selmer (Paris) Series III Alto Sax in Black Lacquer & Engraved
Looks stunning in solid black lacquer with gold keywork, gold engraving and gold inner bell. Black lacquer is more than just a colour. The sax is made from regular brass before a black lacquer is applied which is thicker than the regular gold or clear lacquer. This thicker lacquer has a greater dampening effect on the vibrations enhancing a warmer, darker tone.

Classic look with silver plated body and keys. Some say the silver sounds sweeter.

To minimise cleaning, lacquered saxes are sprayed with a thin layer of plastic lacquer which slightly dampens the resonance of the metal. In contrast, unlacquered silver plated saxes have an addional layer of metal providing extra resonance.....but it is harder to keep them clean.
