The Jumbo is an ebonite which sounds like a metal 'piece- Bright, loud & with plenty of 'kick' to them. Despite this they are an extremely easy to play- and feel quite unusually freeblowing. For power and projection these are in the same league as metal 'pieces such as Dukoff or Berg Larsen (plus, like other high baffle pieces, they are great for altissimo playing). They're not just screamers however, with a little practice it is quite possible to 'tame' them and get a full, warm tone from their sax. An ideal choice for blues, rock, fusion or the extrovert end of the big band spectrum. |
