The idea of the Sphere chamber is to give good presence to the middle range frequencies. In my opinion it achieves this very nicely, creating a buoyant, floaty kind of tone - the sound takes you in a Cannonball Adderley kind-of direction, with a definite leaning towards straight ahead or bebop jazz styles. In my opinion, it can also create enough edge to push the sound in more of a Kenny Garret direction! It takes all the qualities of the Spectruoso and enhances them further….so we're talking a full, very rich tone - nice and fat at the bottom and vibrant and big at the top. The sound remains full without ever getting shrill. For a reasonably wide 285 tip opening I was surprised at just how easy the tone production was - it was extremely free blowing and willing to deliver a big dynamic range.
