Hawkes & Son was founded in 1865 by William Henry Hawkes and built a factory in North London in 1925. A merger in 1930 created Boosey & Hawkes, one of the world's leading brass & woodwind companies who nowadays own the Keilwerth saxophone factory in Germany.
Engraved: Nice vintage curved soprano sax finished in a lovely dark gold lacquer which is 90% intact. Some lacquer has worn through on the back below the strap ring and on the bottom of the bow. The lacquer has quite a lot of small dark spots on it as you can see on the photos. Key range from low Bb to high E. The only significant dent is under the very bottom as if its been put down too hard! It plays fine having been set up by sax technician Dennis Primmett. The pads show wear but there's still life in them. Good sound case with catches & handle intact. Unbranded old mouthpiece - (I'd buy a new mouthpiece). £450
incl.vat & UK mainland delivery.
